Pyramidalis Trigger Point

pyramidalis trigger point

The origin of the pyramidalis muscle is in the pubic symphysis and pubic crest. The linea alba is the muscle’s point of insertion, and the nerve that serves the muscle is the Subcostal nerve (T12).

The pyramidalis muscle has one trigger point that is responsible for pain in the torso, which travels from the trigger point by the pubic crest upwards towards the navel. The image below shows the referred pain extends from the trigger point as abdominal and lower abdominal pain.

People often create the trigger work when straining while working out. People try and increase their core strength and work on their “6 pack.” The exertion and strain causes tears and injuries to the muscle leading to the trigger point.
